Lynn,
A very good question and yes I have a suggestion.
First ask him if this is a good time to talk because most men want just the facts and all the other details bore him. Now that does not mean he is not wanting to listen, he may just have something else on his mind.
Second, as a husband he should take time to say "this is not a good time" or some comment that he was listening. This is something that he needs to develop for better communication with his wife.
Also, take time to discuss your feelings to help him understand that you want some response, sometimes this is something that a husband takes for granted but it's no excuse for not listening properly.
Again a very good question and one all men needs to consider to be a loving husband.

Thank you for your insights into how my husband's mind works.

Now, how can I determine when he wants a long explanation and when he wants a short response. Any suggestions?
